Laro Bogan is an artistic researcher, dramaturg, curator, and critical criminologist living between Hamburg and Berlin. Laro’s work operates at the intersection of performing and visual arts as well as discursive practices. Laro conceives and realizes artistic research projects, performances, conversations, assemblies, installations, and interventions. Thematically, Laro’s work revolves around ecological justice, queerness, memory culture, and freedom of the arts.
In November 2025, the project People’s Court for Climate Trials premiered at HAU Hebbel am Ufer Berlin as part of the festival On Planetary Justice. From November 2021 to July 2025, Laro was part of the artistic team and a consultant in the artistic direction at Kampnagel Hamburg. There, Laro realized projects such as A Wa Nibi – We Are Here with Matthew Blaise, Atlantis with Meera Theunert and Dor Aloni, Mostly Feeling Great with Samra Mayanja, A Song for Esther with Candice Breitz, as well as the discursive format Memory in the Making – From Monuments to Movements with Michael Rothberg.
Together with Emanuele Braga and Jerszey Seymour, Laro worked on the project Life on Planet Orsimanirana at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg in 2021. Previously, Laro had been involved in various projects at the intersection of theater, performance, and political intervention.
Laro studied social sciences at Humboldt University of Berlin and international criminology at the University of Hamburg. Laro’s thesis, Re:Visioning Female Revenge, was awarded the University of Hamburg’s Gender Prize in 2019.
