Radio Orsimanirana

exhibition and radio project

January 2021 – June 2021 · Museum for Art & Crafts Hamburg

Within „Life on Planet Orsimanirana“ curated by Jersey Seymour, Amica Dall & Emanuele Braga

Laro Bogan: exhibition, studio and radio host of Radio Orsimanirana

The Radio Station

Within the exhibition Life on Planet Orsimanirana at the Museum for Arts and Crafts, the Radio Orsimanirana developed as the central tool for communication and artistic work during a time plagued by the pandemic. It ran around the clock for six months and was run by eight people, who produced and recorded shows and curated radio content beyond that. A selection of the shows conceptualized and recorded by Laro can be found below.

Exhibition Context
Designer and artist Jerszy Seymour with Amica Dall of the London based architecture collective Assemble and Emanuele Braga of the artist and activist group Macao in Milan created a fantastic and humorous world in the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (MK&G). Life on Planet Orsimanirana followed the concept of the “Non-Gesamt Gesamtkunstwerk” as a decentralised generative form of world building. International and local collectives, activists, artists, designers and visitors were invited to simply be there, enjoy, take part in discussions and workshops, build ideas, share them as radio programs, jam funky tunes, get comfortable with the struggle and to demand the world we want to live in. Oscillating between exhibition, radio station, workshop and collective performance space. Life on Planet Orsimanirana was an exhibition as a communal living system and a functioning cooperative physical and online radio station which invited the visitors to immerse themselves in an every-colour primordial mud of molecular consciousness, an archive of autonomous reflections, DIY futurist narratives and a pumping funk of organic processes.

A MEDITATION ON UTOPIAN AGENCY

Brain-Dead Collective

Hamburg, 20.2.2021

Setting off from the text “Theorizing Utopian Agency: Two Steps Toward Utopian Techniques of the Self” by Susan McManus (2007) we want to meditate on the possibilities of an affective utopian agency, elicited by the possibility to dream as collective. In the process we mesh vocals with sound and music.
Concept: Laro Bogan
Voices: Laro Bogan, Nikita Kotliar, Chinook Schneider

After that we dive into the science fiction film ANIARA (Pella Kågerman/ Hugo Lilja 2018) and approach the colonial impact of settling outer space.

LOW KEY MUSIC #1

Orsimanirana Radio Hosts

Hamburg, 20.5.2018
In this show which is thought of as a light and easy game on sound the rules are the following: Every time one person/group starts with a sound, a noise, (a) word/s, silence, a field recording or else, then a second group/person adds a second layer to it/manipulates it and so on. No hard feelings if it sounds completely different/distorted after the adding of additional layers! This goes until one person/group declares the piece as finished. The game wants to be open to everyone. Please ask for assistance, if you want to participate, but do not know how!
