Laro Bogan is an artistic researcher, dramaturg, curator, and criminologist, living between Hamburg and Berlin.
Laro’s work moves at the intersection of performing and visual arts and discursive practices. They conceive and realize artistic research projects, performances, conversations, assemblies, installations, and interventions. Thematically, their work revolves around ecological justice, queerness, memory culture, and artistic freedom.
At Kampnagel, Laro has realized works such as A Wa Nibi – We Are Here (2023) with Matthew Blaise, Atlantis (2024) with Meera Theunert and Dor Aloni, Mostly Feeling Great (2025) with Samra Mayanja, A Song for Esther (2025) with Candice Breitz, as well as discursive formats such as Memory in the Making – From Monuments to Movements (2024) with Michael Rothberg. At Hebbel am Ufer Berlin (HAU), People’s Court for Climate Trials premiered at the festival On Planetary Justice (2025).
With Emanuele Braga / MACAO Milano and Jerszey Seymour, Laro worked at MK&G (Life on Planet Orsimanirana), for the theatre group Hajusom in Hamburg, and for the Zentrum für Politische Schönheit in Berlin.
Laro studied Social Sciences at Humboldt University Berlin and International Criminology at the University of Hamburg. Their thesis Re:Visioning Female Revenge was awarded the Gender Prize of the University of Hamburg in 2019 (Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Christine Hentschel, Dr. Simon Strick).
